We live a few blocks from where Chesley Sullenberger (”Sully” to his friends apparently) safely crash landed the US Airways Flight 1549 flight last night. If he had been off by a few blocks, he could have killed tens of thousands of people.
Instead, he was a hero who saved the lives of everyone on the plane–walking up and down the aisles twice to make sure no one was left on the plane–and untold others on the ground.
Is there any doubt he’s the man you’d want piloting your flight?
Realizing what could have been, my daughter decided to honor the pilot by sending him a picture and then wondered if there are other kids who would like to do so as well.
If your children would like to make something for “Sully”, KidCity will be collecting them and sending them along with a little thank you gift from children everywhere.
Pictures can be created electronically on something like KidPix and then emailed to us or we will come and pick them up.
Email us for more information.
Thank you Sully!

The idea to have children send Sully drawings of children’s appreciation for his heroic acts is a wonderful idea. I’m founder of ArtimusArt.com a web company that takes the artwork that children create and transform it into a hard cover book. I will offer to do this with the artwork that all the children create for Sully. That way he can preserve the art and admire it rather than store it in boxes which is what usually ends up which most kids art. Also being a former Flight Attendant for 17 years, this project has special meaning to me.
